CAEN India HawkEye Digital is a compact and portable system designed for gamma ray spectroscopy with scintillation detectors. It incorporates an active Multi-Channel Analyzer (MCA) within a 14-pin photo-multiplier tube (PMT) base. The HawkEye Digital system integrates the necessary components into a stand-alone device, including the high voltage for PMT biasing, the preamplifier for signal shaping from the detector, and the MCA for comprehensive online Pulse Height Analysis.

HawkEye Digital simplifies measurements with scintillation detectors like Nal(Tl), Csl(Ti), LaBr3 or CeBr3 by eliminating the need for additional cables. Its socket and voltage divider are compatible with standard 14-pin 10 and 8 stage PMTs.

This stand-alone design allows HawkEye Digital to operate independently without the requirement of additional devices, cables, or human assistance. It features an internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery, ensuring long-lasting performance for unattended on-field acquisitions. Once programmed via a computer, HawkEye Digital acquires and logs data in an internal SSD memory. An embedded CPU, running the Linux® operating system, controls the acquisition, data recording, and supported communication interfaces.
With versatile communication capabilities including Ethernet, USB 2.0, Bluetooth®, and Wi-Fi, HawkEye Digital can be remotely controlled via a computer. For comprehensive control and analysis, HawkEye Digital is fully compatible with the MC2 Analyzer software running on a Windows® OS PC. In addition to standard board and spectra configurations, the software offers basic mathematical analysis of collected spectra (peak search, background subtraction, peak fitting, etc.).
To account for the temperature sensitivity of scintillation detectors, HawkEye Digital incorporates an advanced algorithm for gain stabilization. The user can select a specific range where the algorithm recognizes a peak and adjust its position accordingly to compensate for temperature variations.
